To Squash Court Facility Managers,
The Gloves and Balls squash court fives ball has been developed to provide the correct characteristics to allow Rugby Fives to be played on a squash court taking account of the cushioned floor, lower tin and larger court dimensions when compared to a fives court.
The ball has also been developed and tested to ensure that no damage occurs to the squash court:
- The ball travels significantly slower than in squash because rackets are not used which means that the compressive load on impact is lower. More importantly, the compressive load is significantly less than from the impact of a racket which is the occurrence most likely to damage a squash court.
- The ball is not hollow, unlike a squash ball, so does not generate suction forces to suck the plaster from the wall via tensile loading.
- The ball is covered with a plastic coating which grips the wall on impact, will not slide against the wall and so does not mark it.
We hope that by allowing Fives to be played on your squash courts it will ensure that they are filled with players into the future.
